This weeks Top Spot Albuferia

Albuferia is in the central Algarve region of Portugal which attracts thousands of visitors every year and it's easy to understand why! There is Albufeira old town with it's pretty cobbled streets lined with restaurants, bars, cafes and shops; the lively nightlife in São João; Albufeira marina with it's sugar candy coloured apartments and last but not least the lovely, sandy beaches. Albufeira is perfect for families, couples and singles of all ages and is central for all the tourist attractions, with the added bonus of a short transfer from Faro airport!

So whats the weather like in Albuferia?

The sea water temperature starts at around 14ºC in January and reaches a high 22ºC in August. A pleasant sea breeze refreshes the average annual temperature of the region, which is 17,7ºC (15ºC in January and up to 28ºC or more in July and August). The Algarve can also count on around 3.000 hours of Sun during the year which makes it a favourite destination for those who fancy such a delightful climate.

Albuferia Beaches and Coastline

Albufeira shores and their natural beauty are rightly famous thanks to the high quality and cleanness of the sea and sand but also due to the excellent accesses and supporting facilities. This is recognized by the highest number of “Blue Flags” given to beaches in one area as well as the number of earned official “Golden Beach Seals” (Quercus).

From little secluded places surrounded by walls of rock to long stretches of sandy beach, we can enjoy them all, whether it be calmly and privately or with plenty of fun and action. Water sports are available on most beaches, whether it be sailing, windsurfing and diving, or even motorized water sports.

The Algarve coast and its gorgeous climate attract visitors all year round, but supporting facilities like umbrella rental, water sports, medical emergencies, beach restaurants and bars run between April and October. It is also during this period that the seashore is properly watched and it’s safe to swim and enjoy it to the fullest.

Nightlife in Albuferia

Naturally, Albufeira is also internationally famous for its nightlife. The two main areas where partying is the most lively are the “Street of Bars” in the Old Town and the “Strip” in Oura and Areias de S. João areas on the East side of the city. A wide choice of bars and clubs playing loudly the latest tunes welcome the younger groups throughout the night.

Golf In Albuferia

Due to its central location, Albufeira is a great option for those players looking for the finest golf courses in the Algarve. There are 3 golf courses in Albufeira (Salgados Golf; PineCliffs Sheraton; Balaia Golf Village) and one Golf Academy but many more are of easy reach like the ones around Vilamoura.

So now you know why Albuferia is such a top destination. Why not search for your next summer holiday in the beautiful Algarve. Seach Cheap Villas in Albuferia

Where to buy your holiday home

The advantages to buying a holiday home are well documented, some purchase simply to have a home away from home, some see the possibility of making some adding money.

However I think the hardest decision is deciding where to purchase your home.

For Brits, Spain is the most popular choice, with 66% opting to buy a property there. The weather, the standard of life and the culture, makes Spain a very appealing place and therefore a good sound investment.
There are currently 3.3 million holiday homes in
Spain and demand is rising by three percent year on year based on the last decade. Firstly, this means that there is always going to be a demand for people wanting to rent your property while you’re not there. Secondly, house prices are set to rise with so much demand meaning that when it comes to selling up you are bound to make a healthy profit.

Another healthy market is Florida, the sunshine state, home of Disney. Florida and mainly the Orlando area are popular all year round due to its great weather, superb entertainment and beautiful beaches. Obviously its biggest pull is Disney and the potential to rent out your property when you are not occupying it is very good. Buying when the dollar is weak is key to healthy margins; also remember that we offer you the advantage of advertising your holiday home for free. I would suggest though looking in to insuring against hurricane damage.

France is also very popular, it offers culture, weather and has a big market in the U.S. Portugal is quickly becoming popular due to its weather, great beaches plus at present prices are lower than Spain and Florida etc.

The best piece of advice I can give you is to choose a location you like, feel comfortable with and have at least visited a few times before.

My five rules for holiday home letting

•Choose a good location

•Two and three bedroom properties are better for families and groups of friends

•Keep the property well-maintained and attractive

•Look at hiring a letting agent. Management fees can range from 15-30%

•Keep the property fully insured
